RAKAN Sarawak Destiny Movers Continues Its Momentum, Expands Programme Reach with New Content

Press Release

RAKAN Sarawak Destiny Movers continues to build on the success of its workshops in Bintulu and Miri by expanding its programmes and introducing new content.

With each edition, RSDM has demonstrated that mental health awareness, when combined with practical skills and experiential learning, can transform communities and empower individuals to become everyday “first responders” for mental well-being.

The Bintulu workshop, Unmask the Mind to Thrive and Flourish, attracted more than 90 participants from schools, technical institutions, and universities, fostering confidence in applying tools such as the ALEC model (Ask, Listen, Encourage, Check-in), grounding techniques, and emotional literacy.

In Miri, the HOPE Workshop further strengthened this momentum, with participants praising the facilitators for their clarity, inclusiveness, and inspiration, while also calling for more interactive activities in future sessions.

Opportunities Not to Be Missed

Proven Impact: Surveys showed that more than 90% of participants gained stronger confidence, practical coping strategies, and motivation to build psychologically safe environments.

More Resilient Communities: Participants were trained to become community “first responders” — individuals capable of recognising early signs of distress and offering support before professional intervention is required.

Inclusive and Engaging: The workshops combined storytelling, arts-based reflection, and interactive activities such as Flip the Script and Safety Net Web, ensuring relevance across youth, families, and professionals.

Strong Community Support: Supported by local institutions, sponsors, and facilitators, RSDM reflects Sarawak’s collective commitment to reducing mental health stigma.

Upcoming RSDM workshops promise even more exciting developments by introducing new modules, deeper exploration of sensitive topics, and greater opportunities for participants to connect, learn, and lead.

RSDM Magazine: Your Key Reference Companion

To complement future workshops, the RSDM Magazine will be launched to provide insights that debunk myths, practical tools, book reviews, and exclusive first-person perspective interviews on topics ranging from workplace neurodiversity to digital hygiene and rural mental health.

The magazine will serve as an ongoing reference resource for youth, families, and communities, ensuring that the knowledge and strategies learned during the workshops continue to be practised long after the sessions conclude.

Do not miss the opportunity to become part of the next RSDM workshop. Whether you are a student, professional, or community member, this is your opportunity to gain knowledge, share experiences, develop practical skills, and contribute to a healthier and more resilient Sarawak.
